Printing Postcards or Flyers: Points to Consider

Here are just a few major points to help you design postcards or flyers:

1. Think about the basics first. Paper- postcard come in a variety of paper weights and sizes. Which is best for you?

2. Think about the print color. You want something catchy, yet very appealing to the eye. Don’t go crazy with bright obnoxious colors. Chances are you wont get any luck getting people to read it.

3. Think about what pictures you want. Yes it’s best to have images. The images are the first to catch the eye and then, if interested will read on. So make sure your images convey what your business is and it must be attractive. Avoid, dark images or small images. I would stand back and take a look at the images. If just beyond arms length it hard to see, it’s not the best image to use. Think like a potential client.

4. The Copy- This is the writing on the ad. Always have a call to action. CALL NOW! VISIT TODAY! COME JOIN US! Next, you want to give out enough information about the business to get customers interested, but, not too much to let them make a decision with out calling you. Wheel them in gently and make them want more and connect with you. Then you make the sale.

5. Make them an offer. Special! Free! Discount! Prizes! these get the consumers attention. Think about the things you can offer.

6. Placement- The most important.Once you have all the detail figured out. Now it’s time to put it together in an ad. Once again Hold just out of arms length and think as the consumer. Does it flow with ease? Is it appealing to the eye? Can you read the print? is the call to action stand out enough to entice you?

These are just some of the things to think about when doing print ads. At 25 Hour Printing Service Inc. in Torontowe are here to help you with all your print needs. We offer convenient online services for you.

Every poster printing is like a book that tells a story. Simplicity is the key to it. A reader would only take a few minutes to look at the poster that is why there has to be few clutters as much as possible. Instead, informative statements and attractive graphics should be included in it. Less detail should be in the poster. Keep in mind that it will be one of the many in the exhibit area so you have to make sure that it will capture the reader’ attention.

The purpose of a poster is basically to present a piece of work in a simple and clear manner. It should effectively present a useful information and food for thought. If the details presented in the poster has been described and illustrated better in a paper, consider making the paper available as handout at the poster session. Additionally, the use of colors can be very helpful in maximizing both the clarity of images and making the poster captivating.

There several things you need to know when designing and printing your own poster. First, don’t make the title too large or too small. Consider its distance with the audience. Avoid also from making it too large. If it exceeds the width of the poster consider shortening the title and remember that all caps letters are harder to read. Also, use colors in your posters as it helps to convey additional meaning. But carefully select the colors that you will use. Make sure that the colors draws attention and serve meaningful distinctions.

Remember also to give credit when it is due. Include a short acknowledgment in the poster to recognize everyone who helped you in the process. And most importantly, write simply, plainly and briefly. Stress out the key pointers and your conclusions in the poster. Do not focus in little stuff. Effectively communicate the big picture.

Do not also assume that the readers would easily understand your poster. So consider adding helpful tutorial sections to the poster such as an Internet address pointing to an important material or anything else that would help teach your readers what they need to know to understand your poster.

You could also use some gimmicks to catch your reader’s attention but make sure that they don’t backfire. And use good judgment in everything that you will include in the poster. So make your posters as interesting as possible but remember not to over do it.

I am your president. At the touch of a button I can activate the deadliest war machine ever created. The entire nation is at my personal service. I shall lack nothing, ever. But you need not fear me, for I am a Christian man and a very righteous man indeed. I keep the commandments like the rich man but I too, would not be perfect. I love God. I love my neighbor and I love my enemies as Jesus said to do. I just don’t want to talk to any of them. I use them all to fight my wars, tee hee. My wars! What am I talking about? I mean OUR wars.

The hole in my spirit could not be filled with alcohol, could not be filled with Jesus, could not be filled by wealth and power. What is a righteous man to do? I have it, by Jesus! Yeaaaah, that’s the ticket. I’ll follow the example of my American brothers and sisters. I’ll pretend nothing’s wrong. Yeaaaah, that’s the ticket. I will act like a president. I can fool you all. I can’t lose. Millions of Christians praying every day I don’t further embarrass them. Surely God hears them. All my Christian brothers and sisters know if Jesus were president, everything would be the same as it is. Although there probably wouldn’t be an Arab standing and just one hundred, forty four thousand Christian Jews.

Whether you know it or not, God is on my side and he told me to use my own judgment, I swear it. He told me. “Don’t you go talking to evil doers, kick their sorry arses.” And if I don’t do what I’m told, how do you think I got to be president?

And hey! How about my brothers and sisters in Congress? Oh sure, they kick up a fuss and call me names, but they give me whatever I want. They can’t afford to anger my God and have no clue what else to do. I tell you, there has never been a president who’s had it so good. I think if there was another Al Qaeda attack, my popularity would again soar. Think I’ll call Osama and see what he’s up to lately.

If anyone has suffered loss to fulfill my Christian love, just know that Jesus’ sacrifice was not quite sufficient to protect an America God no longer hears. In fact, I am the very best my country can do or have. When they are righteous people, like me, they will have more righteous leaders. If the Lord was their shepherd, we wouldn’t need Homeland Security, would we? So me and my buddies in Congress are the shepherds, we own the shears and we never, ever go hungry. What a happy coincidence!

Two and a half years. We only have to hang in two and a half years. You can do it brothers and sisters, you can do it. I have faith in you. Then someone else can clean up OUR mess. I think it should be Hilary and Bill Clinton, how about you? I’d like to tell you more but I have tickets to a Spin Doctors concert.

Honestly Yours,

Mr. President

So many marketing consultants say that marketing is about understanding the reason you are in business, do you believe that is true? They report that to be true and they even write books about the subject, gives seminars, go on radio talk shows and even sell business cassette tapes for business executives and small businessmen to listen to stating that; Marketing is about understanding the reason you are in business. But is it true?

Is marketing really about understanding the reason your business? About a decade ago ServiceMaster was asked by a marketing consultant why they were in business? One of the executives said that they were in business to provide jobs for lower income America; those people who could not find jobs or were unqualified or trained to do higher-end jobs? Eventually the rest of the ServiceMaster executive team had agreed upon that.

They were all applauded by governments regulators and politicians and they even promoted this attitude in their public relations. However, if you ask me, I think that is rather pathetic. Businesses are in business to make money. Not simply provide jobs for underprivileged folks.

First we must consider that the unemployment rate right now in the country is 4.9 percent and anyone who really wants a job and is not doing crystal meth or on some other sort of drug has a job. So in this case, the ServiceMaster Company is no longer needed and may as well close out its business. If this is true what they say, then they should go out of business, but they don’t why? Well, because it is not true. You see, businesses are in business to make money and their company is making money, perhaps even by exploiting those poor folks; who knows? It is not like their employees could not find jobs in this economy.

Some marketing consultants say that businesses are in business to get customers. That is not necessarily true either. Sometimes it is better to make more money off the customers you currently have and have a small number of customers that pay a lot of money and in this case you do not want new customers because it comes with training and educating those new customers and it can cost a lot of money to go out in market and get those customers.

Businesses are in business to make money and a blanket statement that says they are in business to provide jobs or to get more customers is simply not so. Anyone who proclaims this as the reason that they are in business is kidding them selves. If you kid yourself as to why you are actually in business then you will not perform at the optimal level to make money, which is and should remain their primary and main goal. Consider this in 2006.

The total purses for the Breeders’ Cup World Championship have been raised to $20 million, $6 million more than last year. Seven of the eight Breeders’ Cup races have increased their purses.

The Breeders’ Cup Classic which is powered by Dodge has increased its purse to $5 million that means $1 million more than last year. The horse race will take place on November 4th, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Breeders’ Cup races have doubled their purses since its beginning in 1984, when they started with a $10 million purse. Last time purses increased was before the 2003 Breeders’ Cup when the Breeders’ Cup Mile and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile were increased to 1.5 million dollars.

This situation is turning the Breeders’ Cup into the richest race of all, giving its property even more value than ever. It is formed by eight races: the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, the TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint, the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile, the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff, the John Deere Breeders’ Cup and the Turf Breeders’ Cup Classic – Powered by Dodge.

This race is a determining factor in Horse of the Year honors. The Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is a series of thoroughbred horse races sponsored by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. It is a one-day event that takes place every year at a different location. It has always taken place in the United States; the one year that was in another country was in 1996, when the races were at the Woodbine Racetrack in Canada.

The horse racing event was created as a championship for North American thoroughbred racing, but it also attracts top horses from other parts of the world, especially Europe and during recent years, the Middle East.

Men are such wonderful creatures and most of the time everyone underappreciates them. Personally, I love men and everything about them. Since my whole theory of relationship is based upon the fact that men and women are different, it seemed time to elaborate on who men are and how did they get that way.

I had daughters, three of them to be exact and my husband was a
wrestling coach. So, even though I was raising daughters, there were always males around to observe. Now I have two beautiful grandsons and one tiny granddaughter, Justin who is eight and Zak who is three and little Jordan who is two. The boys are both delightfully male and even at the tender age of two there are some radicaldifferences in our little girl. What is it that makes the boys male? Of course, there is the obvious, the male appendage which is the physical difference, but what is more noticeable is how they are in the world. Justin is into light saber fighting, baseball, video games, and action movies and even at the age of eight, Victoria Secret catalogues. He says he likes to look at the beautiful girls.

Zak is a sword fighter, movie buff, spiderman superfan full of energy from the time he opens his eyes until he just can’t go anymore. He is a daredevil and must be watched every second. Little Jordan is athletic, keeps up with the boys and already has her daddy wrapped around her little finger. She is tough and physical and yet remains feminine.

What is even more significant is the way that the adults in the family treat them.

Jordan gets dressed in little dresses and everyone says how pretty she is. Zak and Justin are t-shirt and jeans boys and they are grubby and almost always have skinned knees or bruises. So what?

It’s my belief that boys become macho at birth and it is simply
reinforced throughout their lives. I read once that every man can tell you the name of the bully who terrorized him about the age of 8. I have tested this theory and haven’t yet found a man who can’t come up with the name of his own bully. Their way of dealing with these bullies was to develop a mantra that they told themselves that they are tougher, stronger, and meaner than whoever is terrorizing them and they fought back. This is one of the differentiation points between men and women. Girl bullies fight with words. They sabotage and back stab. They whisper to other girls, start rumors and they attack each other’s looks and clothes. Boys use their physical prowess to intimidate each other.

Boys play with trucks and guns. Girls play with dolls and tea
sets. Stereotypes? Perhaps, but look around and observe how
children play. Personally, I think parents stress the differences even more now because they have their own fears about their children developing sexual preferences as adults. Boys are raised to produce results. Girls are raised to receive. We have made some progress about equalizing the sexual stereotypes, but overall, not much. Instinctively we have millions of years of programming to back up the absolute differences between men and women. I’m suggesting, in terms of relationships only, that we accept these differences and use them to facilitate having our man-woman relationships thrive.

Women no longer need men to hunt, conquer and fight for them. Technology has evened the score so to speak between men and women. Make no mistake, men are still physically superior to women and that intimidates women. Women, however, can take care of themselves. This unfortunately creates confusion in both sexes. Women want to be independent and yet instinctively they want men to take care of them. Men instinctively want to protect and take care of women but now are intimidated by the thought that women want to do it themselves and thus, men don’t really know what their role should be. It is more important than ever for women to express their appetite and ask for what they want.

So, who are men? They are these wonderfully creative, industrious, productive, sensitive charming creatures who love to buildthings, solve problems, satisfy their physical needs, i.e. belch, fart, eat, sleep, climax, and play with gadgets, as well as please the women they love. What they are not interestedin doing is engaging in talk about their relationship, guessing what their woman wants, shopping, or being judged, disapproved of or nagged. They love sex. They love doing it, thinking about it, talking about it, reading about it and they believe that sex is affection

There are two things that I want to call your attention to in the above statement, being sensitive and pleasing the woman they love. Yes, I believe that men are sensitive, extremely so, to be exact. I think they get their feelings hurt perhaps easier than women do. The difference is they don’t show it. They don’t cry or even get angry, they just stuff it inside and withdraw to lick their wounds until they scar over and they are ready to go back out and fight the good fight again. I believe that men feel slighted when one of their projects is taken for granted. They feel hurt and doubt their production when they are looked over for promotion. I believe that a woman can devastate them with a look, or an innocent comment like “You did what?” or if she doesn’t notice or approve or appreciate his efforts on her behalf. I believe that men are always trying to please women and their biggest dilemma is that they don’t have a clue how to please any woman because women think differently than men.

I believe that men appreciate women who tell them what they want
them to do. I believe that men cherish women who are honest with
them and who don’t play games. I believe that men are attracted to women who have appetites for pleasure and women who demonstrate their pleasure both verbally and physically. I believe that men think when they are rejected by a woman that the woman doubts their production (money, success, sex as in erections) in some way, whereas a woman would immediately think she is not attractive enough. I believe that a man does not inherently know how to physically please a woman, and that each woman is different, therefore, each woman must teach her man. Finally, I believe that men will do almost anything for sex.

Based on what I believe is true about men, how do men get what they want? If a man wants to be with a specific woman, he must get himself in front of her so that she can notice him. Women notice men because of their presence. Oh, sure looks play a part, but honestly, I believe that a man’s energy and performance is what really attracts a woman. The most gorgeous man in the world can be in front of you, but if he is a weasel or a wimp, those looks won’t get him what he wants.

A man wants a woman to whom he can surrender. He wants a woman that he can tell the truth to and know that no matter what mistakes he’s made or how dumb he’s been, that she will approve of him and still believe in him. He wants a woman who turns on because he’s in the room. He wants a best friend, a trustworthy partner and a woman who tells him what she wants and lets him be right when he gets it for her. He wants a woman who is charming to his friends, a great mother to his kids and a slut in the bedroom. He wants a woman he can please and it’s only possible to please a woman who knows what she wants and asks for it.

I have this wonderful male client who is looking for a woman to
share his life. He is industrious, physically fit, has this
profound inherent integrity about his beliefs, he is intelligent and amusing and very sensitive. He’s in his 40’s, wants to get married and have children. I have told him that there is a woman (actually a lot of women) out in the world who is looking for a nice guy who just wants to be with her. He has fear about meeting new women because of his own perceived ability to produce results as well as fear of rejection.

What bothers me about this situation is that there are millions of women who want a man and millions of men who want a woman and
neither of them knows how to go about starting a relationship. I
wish all of you would respond and tell me what does it take to get you interested? What does a man or woman have to do to get your attention? How would you like a relationship to start?

It seems to me that relationships can be easy, if both sexes
acknowledge and believe in each other, ask for what they want and appreciate what they get. If men surrender to women’s power in steering the relationship and women surrender to letting men be men and take care of them. Finally, if both sexes acknowledge that sex plays a great part in true intimacy, that both men andwomen love sex equally and that neither knows how to please the other until they get honest and tell each other.

There is hope.

Portland is often called the model of a well-planned city. This is doubtless a consequence of Oregon’s practical land-use policies, especially the 1974 set-up of an urban growth boundary. This move conserved land in the style of farming practices of the 1800s. This was uncharacteristic in a period when many areas neglected their major cities for expansion along highways, satellite cities and suburbs.

However, there are real estate investors and developers who do not quite concur with the urban growth boundary. They reason that the boundary has been a double-edged sword. In other words, it has given not only benefits, but a stark rise in housing costs. Yet housing costs are distinctly less than in metropolitan areas in Washington and California. Furthermore, the inhabitants enjoy the benefits of a compact area that has a well-organized public transportation system and less traffic. Also, the city’s Development Commission has a big hand in Portland’s growth. Established in 1958, it offers economic development and housing programs in the city.

The thickly inhabited parts of Portland are rather uneven, with the West Hills bordering the west side, while the east is much flatter and spans about 170 blocks until Gresham. They stretch from the start of East Portland to the periphery of Gresham’s suburbs. Beyond that lies rural Multnomah County.

Greater parts of inner Portland, as well as downtown Portland, have narrow streets and compact city blocks. Each block is 60m square. Twenty separate combined blocks, each measuring 80m long, align one mile of road. Most streets are 20m wide; the mix of narrow streets and compact blocks makes downtown Portland pedestrian-friendly. In comparison, Manhattan’s east-west streets are separated into blocks that measure 180 to 240m long; Seattle has city blocks that measure 70 by 100m.

The word ‘entrepreneur’ was derived from French words ‘entre’, which stands for ‘between’ and ‘prendre’, which means ‘to take’. The word was originally tagged to people who take on risk between the buyers and sellers or start a new venture (Barringer and Ireland, 2006). However, in the contemporary business, the essence of the entrepreneurial behaviour is identifying opportunities and putting useful ideas into practice. Therefore entrepreneurship can be defined as the process by which individuals pursue opportunities without regards to resources they currently control (Barringer and Ireland, 2006, p5).

In recent times entrepreneurship has attracted a lot of attention and is seen as an attractive career path, which has resulted into a barrage of literature and research into the subject of entrepreneurial behaviour (Papers4you.com, 2006). This is evident in the fact that Amazon.com holds nearly 5,800 books that deal with one or the other aspect of entrepreneurial behaviour (Barringer and Ireland, 2006). However, most of the literature is repetitive in nature describing the same personal qualities of passion for business, tenacity despite failure, execution intelligence etc. This coupled with a flurry of women entrepreneurs like Anita Roddick of the Body shop sometimes ends in a debate about women being better equipped with the qualities of being an entrepreneur. On the other hand, it is increasingly becoming apparent that while opening a business is easy, the real challenge is to keep the business open. This is evident in recent statistics provided by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) suggesting that 20% of the new firms in the US failed in the first year itself (Barringer and Ireland, 2006).

However, the significance of entrepreneurial activities to economic development is immense as the fundamental requirement for an entrepreneurial start up is a new and innovative business idea (Papers4you.com, 2006). Schumpeter was the first one to recognise that new technologies and products developed by the entrepreneurs will over the time make current technologies obsolete, terming is as ‘creative destruction’ (Welsch, 2005). The whole entrepreneurial process goes through a few common steps vis–vis deciding to become an entrepreneur, developing a successful business idea by doing a feasibility analysis, industry analysis and coming up with an effective business model. After a business model has been drafted the next step would be to move from an idea to an entrepreneurial firm, which would include assembling firms initial management team, get a sound financial back and writing a business plan which would help draw the finances. The last and the final step would be to manage the firm to ensure sustained growth (Barringer and Ireland, 2006).

Entrepreneurship is hence a long journey through the steps mentioned above and requires skill and qualities to execute them successfully. However the belief that ‘entrepreneurs are born, not made’ is a myth and a through knowledge of the field would enable a smoother journey.
