It’s a little surprising how difficult it can be to find a good health food store depending on where you live in California. You’d think it would be on the up and up forefront of all things healthy and exotic. Unfortunately if you’re in Redlands or Loma Linda you have about two choices. You can go to Trader Joes or the Loma Linda Market. The IE seems to only slowly opting for health food and organic items. Hopefully stores like Whole Foods and Henry’s Marketplace, as well as other less mainstream businesses, will make their presence known across the state.

When I first heard about a new organic health food grocery store opening in Riverside I admit I was excited, but hearing the response from some of my peers left me a bit crestfallen. A majority of my peers seemed more concerned with tradition in their diet as opposed to quality. When one of them heard the words health food he quickly retorted, “Oh that’s the kind of food old people eat.” A friend of mine moved to San Diego, and initially found it pretty difficult to locate a grocery store that sold vegetarian products.
